How time flies! 2018 holds some promising dramas. Here is my list of the top 5 upcoming dramas of 2018 that I’m most excited about.

5. My Brother’s Husband
It’s surprising to hear there is an LGBT drama airing on Japanese TV. Based on the manga of the same name, My Brother’s Husband is about the cultural differences between a single dad, his daughter and his late brother’s Canadian husband. Adding to the weirdness is that the brother-in-law is homosexual. This drama will only be three episodes and will start on March 4, 2018.

4. Sense8
While it’s not entirely a new series, Sense8 will be airing its much-anticipated season finale on June 8, 2018 some time this year on Netflix. The show was canceled but with support from fans, the creators are making their wishes come true with a finale. Now we can finally get some closure with our eight interesting characters.

3. My Dear Boy
Ruby Lin is back in a new Taiwanese rom-com drama, My Dear Boy! This story is about a love between a boy and a girl who is older than him. While not exactly my cup of tea, Ruby’s previous hit drama, The Way We Were, made me curious how this will play out. This drama is currently on air.

2. Siren
Looking for a dark fantasy mystery? Check out the upcoming American drama, Siren, scheduled to air on Freeform starting March 29, 2018. This is a darker spin about the killer mermaids from legends.

1. Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace
Created by the same team who made the hits Empresses in the Palace and The Legend of Mi Yue comes a spin-off sequel to Empresses in the Palace, Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace. Zhou Xun is making her comeback to the small screen — how can I not watch this? The release date has been pushed back yet again but hopefully they’ll stream it online.
